Shems is a British and Moroccan Dj who grew up in London and Marrakesh. His passion for music started a young age having developed his culture in all different genres of music with help from his Dad who was a big DJ under the name DEM2 in the UK acid House scene in the late 80s, early 90s. He played the piano for 6 years as a teenager before switching to Djing at 18.

He has crafted a unique electronic music signature, blending house, techno, minimal as well as drum and bass in his sets, making him a truly dynamic and versatile performer. Shems started playing in intimate parties in Bristol before moving to Mexico where he performed in several different bars and clubs such as Soundset Beach Club, Santino and Speakeasy in Playa Del Carmen.

After having spent a year in Mexico, he decided to return to Marrakech where he founded Elektrokesh and started organising events where he would perform with local as well as international DJ’s such as Dan Andrei, DJ Deep, Jimpster and many others. He has played at many institutions in Morocco such as l’Envers, Lola Sky Lounge and la Pergola where he held weekly residencies and also BCKSTG with a monthly residency. He also has a weekly radio show on Ness Radio called Sunrise with Shems.
